The basic idea for the redesign seems fine (less on books, more on other
stuff).  But please, for my eyes' sake, change the colors!

Some people have a problem viewing extremely high contrast colors on a
computer screen.

In this particular case, the blue text on the light green nav bar is
almost painful for me to look at, because the background actually appears
to be a different distance away than the blue text on top.

In at least this respect, the existing site is much better.  Dark text on
a white or gray background is generally easy to read for almost everyone.
