KDevelop is iffy.  It's a program for KDE, a UNIX desktop.  So, unless 
you plan to develop on Linux, *BSD or similar, it's probably not a good 
choice.

It hasn't been developed for years.  The included FPC version is very 
old.  With that said, I always liked the look of the syntax highlighting.

Have you tried Lazarus?  It's good, but compilation is kinda slow, 
especially if you have size-related flags (-CX -XX -Xs) set.  I 
resurrected the Windows API interface and did some work with it several 
years ago, but I was over my head and handed it over to more competent 
developers when they showed interest; I don't know how much of some of 
my more questionable code remains, but it seems pretty solid, even on 
Windows.
