Hello!
I just downloaded fpc-2.0.4.i386-win32.exe and doc-html.zip from
the free pascal webpages.
Installing (and using) free pascal took (takes) place successfully on
a Windows 95 platform. (Microsoft Windows 95 4.00.950 b /
Windows 95. [Version 4.00.1111])
I also unpacked the html-help-files and added them to the IDE
through Help -> Files -> New. Afterwards the keyword
index ( *.thpx) was created automatically.
But with the IDE there is one problem:
The IDE doesn't crash, when I'm browsing
Help -> Contents -> User guide.
But with many other help-items it does crash.
E.g. when I open
Help->Index->[choose some topic]
, the IDE crashes with the following error:
Program generated a RTE 35 at address $0081D471.
The same issue but no solution was reported to the free pascal
community by somebody else in December 2006:
http://community.freepascal.org:10000/bboards/message?message_id=239283&forum_id=24090
What could be the reason for the IDE-crash?
Is the problem specific to the Win95-platform?
Is the problem due to the program used for unpacking
doc-html.zip ?
Is the problem due to line-endings of HTML-files?
[I don't have more recent M$-Windows-releases available,
but I do have a much more recent Linux-platform where I
frequently use the FreePascal-compiler, but not the IDE...]
Sincerely
Ulrich
