I ran your code without CRT and clrscr but it still performed as you
said. The runtime error message is in the FPC Users Manual. Error 106
is "re****ted when a non-numeric value is read from a text file when a
numeric value was expected."

My Cooper version of Oh, Pascal 1992 does not have this example that I
could find.

That is why there are experts (Not me).
