My favorite book on Pascal (at the moment) is Oh! Pascal by D. Cooper
and M. Clancy of which I do have a German translation (dated 1998). It
deals with pure Pascal without the TurboPascal extensions. Since I do
have some other books about TurboPascal I believe I will not need to
buy other books at the moment. Maybe later on when David will start
his informatics lessons.

Sounds quite interesting. Since prices for liquid fuels rise more and
more there micght be increasing chances for alternative methods. btw
the diesel fuel for our car costs 1.069 Euro/litre, and there is no
way it will ever fall below the 1.02 Euro/litre.

Well, that makes me even more curious about it. At the moment I do my
first steps and everything works quite well.

I'll have a look at nedit, don't know it yet. StarOffice 5.2 was a
great office suite, I did use it under Windows and later on under
Linux. Now I use OpenOffice.org. Switching over to OpenOffice became
useful when the German spelling rules were changed quite a bit some
years ago. As an office worker you must not spell wrong - and the new
rules are a nuisance to everybody who learned the old rules in his
youth.
Unfortunately OpenOffice.org is not such a good html browser as
StarOffice used to be. And furthermore I still miss the news and mail
modules which made StarOffice a really complete office suite.
The freepascal ide does not really work with my pc, can't get the
mouse working correctly with it. After starting the ide I can execute
some two or three mouse actions, but then mouse sup****t is finished.
:-( That is why I use geany as editor at the moment. But I am sure
that the freepascal ide is still a bit better when it comes to
debugging etc. That was one of the highlights with the TurboPascal
ide. Well, that doesn't really bother me at the moment.
Later on maybe I will use msegui for gui features programming, but
that may be some time in the future.

Well, frost has ceized here some days ago - this winter is more a bit
of a cool and wet summer. We had some three days with snow, but still
too little for sledging or skiing. In normal witners there is a skiing
resource here and many people from Mayen or even Cologne come to do
some winter s****ts here.
If there were some coll weather resistant sorts we could plant rice
here ...
