Re: Translating an embedded C algorithm

Thanks everyone for your contributions.

The embedded Pascal compilers I have found are:

MGL software: users.iafrica.com/r/ra/rainier
E-LAB Computers: www.e-lab.de/index_en.html
SourceBoost: www.sourceboost.com

Unfortunately, as far as I can see, embedded Pascal compilers are
available only for the Atmel AVR, ARM, PIC, and Z80. That rather
restricts the use of it as an embedded language. However, the fact that
the Pascal source code compiles to an intermediate P-code means that
only machine code translators need to be written to enable alternative
targets, so it is surprising that this has not been done more often - I
guess mostly because of the chicken-and-egg situation I mentioned
earlier, that very little embedded code is done in Pascal!

The method of measuring temperature here is not particularly im****tant.
I use the example because it is a simple algorithm that is easily
translatable between different languages. The code originally came from
an electricity meter. It was im****tant that the temperature measurement
was done extremely quickly so the processor could go back to sleep as
soon as possible, and this coe was faster than modeling the quadratic
equation.

The reason I posted the link as a pdf is so I could include all the
equations, diagrams, and graphs as they appear in the draft copy of the
book.

Thanks again!
paul
