If X is the quantity, what sense does it make to allow X to be negative
anyway? Won't there _always_ be X greater than _or equal to_ zero?
This is a tool for solving systems of equations, right? Can't you add
constraints that X be non-negative and dispense with Y altogether?

Since your question seems to be entirely about how to use Lindo, and
nothing to do with how to use it specifically with Delphi, I suggest you
go ask on a Lindo sup****t forum. There you'll get lots of people who
know Lindo, or at least a few people who know it well.
I see Lindo mentioned a few times on sci.op-research.
