I've run into a performance problem with something I'm writing and
decided to give Turbo Profiler a try. It came with my Borland Pascal
7 Professional CDROM, evidently. The problem is, I can't find any
documentation listed for Turbo Profiler in any of my printed manuals.
I know TProf is not terribly hard to use at a basic level, and I know
it comes with a help file, but the help file is frankly quite terrible
and I want to use some features that don't appear to be working
properly. I've looked in the Turbo Assembler, Turbo Debugger, and all
the other manuals that came with my BP7 Pro cdrom and I can't find
info on it.
My questions:
- Was there a Turbo Profile manual, and if so, have I lost it? Or was
there never any documentation produced for Turbo Profiler?
- Is there a better alternative or equivalent program to do profiling
that will work with the output of Turbo Pascal? (ie. the debugging
info embedded in the .exe, or a .map file, or something)
If I get desperate I can fall back to traditional profiling methods; I
was just bothered that I couldn't find a manual for tprof.
