Ouch! I do dislike such prejudiced views being presented as fact!

Pascal existed before the standards were created. Therefore it cannot
be said that *only* standards-compatible Pascal is Pascal. Does all
'Wirthian' Pascal code compile under Standards Pascal and vice-versa?

It doesn't matter whether the discussion is in c.l.p.ansi-iso or at a
coffee shop in Waterloo Station, the facts don't change. (..but I do
agree that the semantics could become more im****tant.)

Delphi is a package containing a Pascal compiler and an IDE. Why should
it be named Pascal? The Pascal compiler included within Delphi accepts
extensions to the language. The Delphi do***entation makes extensive
references to it's Object Pascal runtime library.

Are there *any* Pascal compilers that can easily be used to compile
standards-only Pascal code to produce applications that take full
advantage of today's GUI systems?

I've only picked up on this because the c.l.p.ansi-iso newsgroup appears
to be pretty much dead. Most of the posts are cross-posted to c.l.p.misc
or consist of advertising by a Pascal 'expert' pu****ng his own site on
which he is attempting to sell a Pascal compiler. (Would it be
reasonable for Money lenders to continually push their products on a
newsgroup discussing financial problems?) Having said that: I am
interested in it and may end up being a customer!

Please don't scare away other users of this newsgroup!
