I don't think asking for the number of active Modula-3 programmers in a
newsgroup will produce any usable results.

You really should specify "better solution": solution for what?

None of the available Modula-3 compilers give you an environment like
Lazarus, that is true. Personally I use the Modula-languages because of
the clean and very readable output they make possible. Some things like
rudimentary GTK-sup****t are available.
