Let me join the chorus of Linux suggestions. Apart from the inherent
merits
or otherwise of Win98, since it's no longer supported, as soon as you put
them on the net the machines will be taken over by spyware and mailbots
before
you can even log in. That won't help make them run any faster.

I'd recommend Berkeley Logo, except that it's ASCII-based, not
Unicode-based,
so it's internationalizable only in the Latin alphabet. Is that a
deal-killer?
