Correct word length, but the PDP-10 has no fixed byte length.  The
byte instructions works with any length between 1 and 36.  (Leaving
aside the extended architecture one-word global byte pointers.)  Some
software uses 6-bit bytes to store an ASCII subset, but 7-bit bytes
are also commonly used for text, and recently 8-bit bytes has proven
useful.
