Wireless popcorn

by Roedy Green <see_website@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jun 8, 2008 at 02:02 AM

The world in going wireless with cell phones, LANS, mice, Kindles,
Bluetooth, headphones, netbooks...

There is a craze on U-tube showing videos where three cell phones are
placed around a few kernels of popcorn. Then they put in a call to all
three, and within seconds the kernels pop.

My guess this has to be some sort of trick, since how the heck could
you generate enough energy to pop corn with 3 batteries. Possibly it
is genuine. There might be sufficient power to pop a few grains. If
that is so, ouch!

I suspect the videos will generate some panic over wireless devices in
general, even ones like Bluetooth with much lower power. If it is a
hoax, it needs to be debunked. If it is not, I'm glad I never got a
cellphone.
