Adobe BuzzWord

by openwound <openwound5000@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jun 3, 2008 at 12:29 PM

Did anyone take a look at Adobe BuzzWord? It is a wordprocessor
written in Flash. It is quite nice. It is limited in features though.
I wouldn't use it, because it doesn't have style sheets. Still it
shows promise. Probably v2.0 of this app will be good enough for me.

About 10 years ago a lot of companies were doing similar apps -- in
Java. But they failed. Why did they fail? Why does Adobe think they
will succeed when similar efforts have failed before?

Personally I feel Adobe will succeed even though similar Java apps
have failed. Adobe gets client software. Adobe knows how to make them
cool and appealing. Sun didn't how to make client-side Java cool.
(Anyone remember the "wrong menu font" complaints on this forum years
ago?) Sun was not responsive. Sun is a server company, and didn't
understand cool. You have got to understand "cool" in order to succeed
on the client. That's the lesson from Steve Jobs and Mac OS X. Mac
marketshare is up to 7% now and going up.
