The writer of the article obviously missed one very im****tant issue; Java
is a
2 faced phenomenon. There is indeed Java as programming language, which
you can
fully utilize by downloading the JDK and start coding. HOWEVER; there is
also
something as Java the technology. This has nothing to do with programming
languages anymore; its merely a binary entitiy (better known as a jre)
which
(quote java.com:) "allows you to play online games, chat with people
around the
world, calculate your mortgage interest and view images in 3D".
That environment does indeed try to get the attention of the end-users to
which
its targeted at. I always grab my jre's directly from the developers
website so
I can't comment about the installation procedure, but it wouldn't surprise
me
if they offered 3rd party downloads together with the runtime as well.
Still;
I'm pretty sure that's all opt-in.
