It make be hard to tell who is copying who. Betas and forums
telegraph future directions. It is convergent evolution. Programmers
demand a feature they have seen on a competitor's product.
It is a quite restricted problem domain. There may be a dozen ways to
do each thing, and programmers have a preferred way once they try them
all. Further as programmers move from IDE to IDE they DEMAND they be
able to work the way they are familiar with.
There is not a lot of copyright going on. An IDE developer's ego
feels vindicated by emulation. This the ideal environment for
convergent evolution.
