Do you actually know what proprietary means? Apple on desktops has
moved away from using proprietary peripherals (mainly due to cost
considerations), but the OS itself is proprietary.

And you do know I was talking about the iphone, right? This baby will
be even more closed and proprietary...

I remember that commercial of Apple showing that woman "freeing" the
IBM slaves...I guess Apple itself does the same thing by fostering
closed, proprietary systems on people....

Since i doubt people would try to run several copies of opera mini on
their phones, then that would be a bit below 15 million. Plus, some
operators are pre-installing opera mini into their phones as the
default browser, including T-mobile and other operators in europe, so
you get the idea.

Maybe? Think again, dude. The iphone is a non 3G phone arunning on
cingular's edge and safari would most likely be mol***** slow.

To reliably compare the two you'd need to place both on comparable
hardware. Since we don't yet know the specs of the iphone it would be
a moot point, but considering that Opera Mini is about 3x faster than
mobile browsers right now on comparable hardware, I very much doubt
safari would win.

Huh???? Flash is dead?

Btw, you do know safari will be loaded down like crazy because of the
fact that instead of providing an SDK, everyone is supposed to develop
web apps for it right?

You do know jobs took that interface also from xerox right? he even
said stealing it was ok.

Since Apple does not control the desktop market, nor the laptop
market, nor the server market, nor the PDA market, i very very much
doubt it will 'control" the cell market. Indeed, its most successful
product the ipod, may not even dominate the total MP3 market (when MP3
phones are added in)...
