Interesting Workbench Experience

by David Fanning <news@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Feb 3, 2008 at 01:57 PM

Folks,

I had an interesting IDL Workbench experience just now. I've
been working away all weekend on a new program I want for
working with netCDF files. (An announcement will be made
soon, I hope.)

The Workbench has been behaving itself, and I am getting
used to its little idiosyncrasies. I was working away on
the program documentation part of the program when all of
a sudden it was as if a malicious ghost had taken over
the keyboard. Windows started resizing themselves, applications
were being opened, I lost complete control over my cursor
for a minute or so. It was wild!

The upshot was that my workbench looked as if the dog had
been writing programs all morning. :-(

It took me about 10 minutes to get the whole thing sorted
out again, after I closed the Workbench and opened it up
again to the mess.

I don't know what that was about, but I just love the way
life is full of all these little surprises.

Cheers,

David

P.S. God willing, I'll finish the documentation before the
Superbowl starts. :-)
