Madge Griswold passed away November 25 in Tucson. She was the widow
of Ralph Griswold, who founded Arizona's Computer Science Department
and created the Icon language.
Icon old-timers remember Madge from when she accompanied Ralph at
conferences and workshops. She co-authored the Icon language book
and implementation book, and co-published the Icon Newsletter and
Icon Analyst.
Trained as a journalist, Madge was also an accomplished chef. She
combined these passions in her scholarly writings on culinary history,
and was the 1998-1999 chair of the Board of Trustees of The Culinary
Trust.
