Re-joining the Icon Newsgroup

by "perlster" <dnormandin@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jan 6, 2007 at 03:33 PM

Hi all...

Seems like my webmail provider is doing something wrong with his mail
setup, so the Unicon mailing list manager is bouncing my replies to you
guys. No matter! I'll stay in touch via groups.google.

I recently asked whether or not Icon was still breathing ;) and whether
it was interpreted or compiled. Got your replies OK. Seems to me like
Unicon is still Beta and even Alpha stage? Yes/No??

What about Icon per se. How viable is it as we speak? I get a sense
that there's a bit of bad blood between the Icon / Unicon camps. YA
ya??

Anyway, I've been doing Perl / Php for awhile now. For various reasons,
I need to find a different language to to CGI / web stuff in. I've
looked at Lua; Tcl and currently Euphoria. I stumbled onto Icon by
accident. I need to run Icon / Apache / Sqlite or postgreSQL on a Linux
/ FreeBSD box. Any problems? TIA...
