Much of the community continues with Unicon (Un-icon) that is available on
SourceForge. It makes some changes to basic Icon, but introduces an
Object model, and adds an extensive System Library that permits powerful
scripting of internet communication and use of SQL databases. Most of the
Icon library appears to carry over and there is an elementary IDE and
on-line help.
A good book on Unicon with lots of examples is available from Clint
Jeffrey
if you do not wish to print out your own copy.
When I have a project with text processing I turn to Icon or
Spitbol/Snobol,
depending
on what needs doing..
Regards,
Ed
