Some students still struggle with the fundamentals.

One student recently posted code that tried to use a 2d array as a
look up table. In spite of simple linear equations relating (x,y) to
(i,j), she used a brute force search in both X and Y through a
parallel table of (x,y) values.

Perhaps my exposure to early Fortran in which you could only have a
simple index variable made some difference?
