Oh yeah. I forgot about that one. I suppose that is a good candidate for
those who prefer to make the allocation explicit.

In fact, now that you bring it to mind, I recall thinking pretty much
the opposite - that allocation on assignment made this form pretty much
redundant for allocatables, as this was just a long-winded form of the
assignment statement, which I preferred. But for those who prefer to use
a syntax that makes the allocation more explicit, yes, this would do it.

P.S. Can I claim that double letters don't count, so that 'hello' really
has 4 characters? The ll ought to be some kind of ligature that counts
as a single char. :-)
