I think if you are not prepared to use infocmp (formerly termcap)
you shouldn't try to move the cursor in linux.
The console model is perfectly well suited to normal Forth business.
[If GET-XY ever makes it into the ciforth library it will come with a
way to configure it using infocmp and will work on all terminals. ]

A quick and reasonably easy to implement fix would be to disable
escape sequences if gforth discovers an unknown terminal.

Is there is a reason that REQUIRE GET-XY would not be able to
run infocmp?
