You'd need a tool on the client side to do the hopping around the
source ... sending page after page of source with no change except
font characteristics of the word currently being executed would often
slow it down compared to what it could be ... if students want to
crank it up do that it goes by in a blur, they should have that
freedom.

But as its all text, there's nothing in that which couldn't be done as
a Firefox extension, which would make it available to most platforms,
and then a freestanding network client could be developed that could
work in, say, a console Linux or FreeDOS system.
