Ah, but does it generate its code by calling gas as a back-end? Even
better, does it generate a data structure of its code to be used by a
tool to generate code for gas as a back end?
Otherwise, its not a *front end* ... its *merely* the product of the
back-end, that GCC compost that some people call "applications".
At least, from a casual glance at the GCC folks from a distance.
