You are telling me that somehow being smart, unlike being 
lucky in cards or being born into the Hilton family, somehow 
only helps a person to solve problems if that person does 
not become rich. If this is true, it indicates weaknesses 
in being smart. Weaknesses, if correctly identified, may 
often be repaired.

(Note to the terminally clueless; if one has not established
a logical reason why being smart should lead to being rich,
one should not be surprised when others refuse to accept any
conclusions based upon the un-established link.)
