There were about 80 messages on c.l.f in the past week.
As Mike said, ISP's can vary wildly as to what they carry (and how long
they archive and how many messages they miss). It is odd that they
dropped c.lf. and did not drop c.l.f.m, Usually, ISP's will add groups
they get customer requests for, but not always.
Long ago, I got so aggravated at my ISP that I subscribed to Newsguy
instead, which is very good at filtering Usenet spam and rarely misses a
post. Some folks just use Google as a free Usenet gateway, although I
find its interface kind of klunky.
