You will have to compile the full program for compiling just
this class because the compiler will have to know all instances
of your generic class to find out whether every call can work.

Going further, you could consider Smalltalk style typing,
so that you wouldn't even need generics. Just see whether
an object does indeed have a feature ;-)

As Gerald has said, this will probably not blend well with
Eiffel's approach to typing.
