Hi,
I'm hoping it's not because December is too warm: Having worked-around the
problem in ISE Eifel 5.7 (I had posted here), I found out that even a
modest
change in my system (small, only about 118 classes including runtime)
causes
the melted executable either to receive a SIGSEGV (Linux), or it raises a
failed assertion where there is none. Occasionally the runtime panics
(with
something like "unknown type"). I never cared to debug this further (based
on
the experience of my last problem report), but I found out that a "freeze"
always made the system run again without problem.
(Of course ending estudio, removing the EIGGENs directory, and the rebuild
everything also fixed the problem)
If that is the leading "melting ICE technology", I'll prefer a strong
winter
instead ;-)
Eiffel will never succeed unless the tools have significantly better
quality
than this.
Regards,
Ulrich
