Move to California. The state confiscated all the "assault weapons" some
years back (thereby fulfilling the gun advocates' prophecy that
"registration leads to confiscation" and whose conclusion was pooh-poohed
by
the anti-gun types).
Since 1934, there have been TWO crimes committed by NFA (National Firearms
Act) registered weapons (machine guns). And one of those was by a police
officer who used a weapon assigned to his department.
But, like nuclear power, "assault weapons" invokes primal fears not easily
assuaged by the facts. I understand.
For those that are apprehensive about what might happen to them when so
many
are walking around armed to the teeth, there is a simple and effective
solution:
Get yourself a gun.
You'll eventually come to understand that armed people are not a danger.
I,
myself, am always armed and have never been proved to have shot ANYBODY in
my neighborhood or while shopping or during a wor****p service.
For more on this mindset, visit the "tx.guns" newsgroup (it should be
available on your server). There you will learn the rules of gunfighting.
The first of which are:
1. Take a long gun to the gun fight.
2. Takes as many friends as possible, all armed with long guns, to the gun
fight.
3. If you do not outnumber your opponent at least five-to-one, get more
friends.
4. etc.
