indeed.com is a consolidation site that incorporates DICE.com, monster.com
and two dozen
others you've never heard of. Its search engine is better than any of
them. It's good at
filtering DICE 'updates' where the only update is the posting date (DICE
is infamous for
allowing this deception).
A feature I find especially useful is Job Trends, which allows you to
enter a keyword and
returns a graph of how often that word appeared in job ads over the last
two years.
"Cobol" shows a downward trend. C#, .NET, AJAX, java, ruby and python all
show an upward
trend. Even straight C is up. Try it with your own keywords.
On the absolute scale, PL/SQL and most of the above are mentioned THREE
TIMES as often as
Cobol. RPG is less than half Cobol and trending down. You can use AND and
OR in the
keywords. I just entered "z/OS or MVS" and found the trend is down, below
Cobol on the
absolute scale. "Micro and focus" is trending up.
I don't know who owns indeed.com. I thought I read somewhere that Google
is involved. It's
very polished.
