my apologies to the group.
in my youth i was a terrible speller and new nothing of sentence
structure. i learned of these deficiencies as an adult and worked hard at
overcoming them. but now, thanks to several factors, i find myself
struggling with the effort it takes to write, and the results speak for
themselves.
my last posting contained several errors (spelling and structure). the
errors i would like to correct are the ones in the paragraph that contain
a quote, for i really hate it when i mess up a quote. the corrected
paragraph follows... and i hope it is corrected.
sam walter foss was reading homer one day and one of homer's lines caught
his eye, so
much so that sam wrote a poem about it. my grandfather (on my mother's
side) would
often recite this poem from memory, and even as a small boy i remember
relating to the
words 'Let me live in a house by the side of the road and be a friend to
man.'. nice words.
nice thoughts. but they really ought to be expressed in a different
group.
an additional thought. in my day we spent many hours discussing
'structured' vs 'inline'. spending time in this group has prompted me to
do some additional research into this matter using the bible as my
referance, for on a subject as im****tant as this one god must surely have
an opinion. and much to my surprise he does. you can 'go to' heaven, you
can 'go to' hell, and you can 'perform' penance. so god votes 2 out of 3
in favor of inline. christian, jewish, and arabic programmers, if they be
true followers, must write inline code.
what a great day.
