I read about it on the web site you referenced and would like to offer
my opinion. They are obviously using 'hard sell' tactics to promote
there product. The reasons that they give for developers to buy their
product are mostly half-truths or exaggerations. They even go so far as
to say that DOS-16 bit emulation "doesn’t even exist in Windows Vista".
And they (apparently) have never heard of (x)Harbour or any of the other
Clipper language developments because their migration path is the only
choice offered.

They want everyone to convert all 'legacy' Clipper apps to the .NET
platform - as if everything about .NET is good and terminal-interfaced
apps are not going to be around for much longer. They also say (in
different words) that you can make lots of money by converting Clipper
apps to .NET.

CULE's scaremongering reminds me of other pseudo-scams - such as the Y2k
brouhaha and the currently evolving data encryption and anti-virus
paranoia. Sure, operating systems die, DOS was not the first to be
abandoned and it certainly won't be the last. But computer languages are
not at all dependent on a specific OS.

I say; look at the CMTK from CulePlace if you want to tame (meaning make
it slower and less powerful) and limit your application to the Microsoft
'lego sandpit', and possibly to make easy money without scruples - but
not for any other reason.

Norman
