when a user logs into remote desktop,
don't you know the user then?
or do several "users" log into the same desktop id?
sorry for more questions,
just trying to understand the requirement.

would it be possible to have a standalone clipper login program that 
determines the user, writes out an appropriate batch file then swap/run
to the batch file that sets temp and starts real program?
