Windows XP or Vista? I have seen a bunch of people have to do
multiple reboots to even get this "bitter pill" down their computer's
throat. I suspect they have changed the capabilites of "virtual
machine" Clipper runs in.
Does task manager come up if you Alt+Ctl+Del?

xHarbour could save your job. Native 32- or 64-bit WinDoze
applications, minimal code changes. You can even move "slowly" into
GUI, invoke Access or Excel to be your front end, or serve files over
the internet.
