Vulcan.NET: next Clipper/VO?

by hfufna@[EMAIL PROTECTED] May 6, 2008 at 07:36 AM

Has anyone tried this product? http://www.govulcan.net/****tal/

I installed the trial (a painful process involving installing
VisualStudio 2008 and all the updates) only to find out that 2008 was
not working (ending graciously with miscellaneous errors about missing
DLLs). Not really unexpected after a 5GB (yes, gigabytes) and 2+ hours
setup, I must say.

Then I installed the Vulcan.NET very own IDE (that is written in
Vulcan) and should be similar to VO (I say "should" because I've never
used VO) and in matter of seconds I made up my first .NET executable
(34Kb) (A visual form sayng "Hello World").

Nice!

I suggest you guys to give it a try.

I don't have any "visual" code to put in and convert, so my testing
(starting from scratch) are absolutely non-relevant: anyway I thought
that maybe someone else has it and would like to experiment the
effectiveness of this solution and re****t to the groups.

In the meantime I'm involved in facing the complexity of NET features
(uhm, and I suspect I'll never sort it out...)

No need to mention that my interest is only academic: I specialize in
web applications, and using .NET for my current solutions is
absolutely overkill. (I'm glad enough using DBFree: I fear I'm still a
bit much "procedural" than OOP...)

Cheers
