I'd suggest you seriously consider using a virtual machine for development
of older programs, especially DOS.

as a Guest OS (while using Vista has the host OS), and you can easily
switch between the host OS and guest OS.
There is a trial version to test so you can verify if that is a good
solution for you.
Parallels makes a less expensive virtual machine offering, but I am not as
familiar with it.
