After catching the first signal, you fail to reset the signal handler.
Some systems require that you call signal(), or one of the POSIX
signal handling functions, before it will catch that signal again.
For example, my Linux box's man page says:

    ... signals under Linux are reset to their default behavior
    when raised.

If your system's man pages don't give you enough details, you may be
able to get more information on a group related to your particular
platform, or perhaps comp.unix.programming.
