Re: return types with conditional

Thanks for the many helpful replies to my posting. As many respondents
surmised, I was under the impression that the last value computed in
any routine is the return value, at least in the old K&R version of C
(which is the form this code was written in). I always make it a point,
in my own programs, to provide an explicit return statement but I didn't
know what exactly happens when it was omitted and actually had the wrong
impression. Thanks again.
