The size of the memory allocated to the a pointer is sizeof a.
The size of what a points to is sizeof *a, which is the size
of a single int.   There is no way in C++ to figure out the
size of whatever allocation the single int came from unless
you remember it yourself somehwere.

Alternatively you can use a class like std::vector that will
remember it for you.
