Thanks again folks.  To make sure I understand correctly:

The pimpl idiom is not meant to be used when there are several
implementations but
rather one implementation that can be adjusted without affecting other
clients of the public interface?

Although Batov's Pimpl implementation seems to sup****t runtime
implementation choices (if I understood it correctly).
