Paradigma Provides Easy MySQL to Valentina Migration for REALbasic
Developers
August 13, 2007. Beaverton, Oregon. Paradigma Software, Incorporated,
makers of the ultrafast database system Valentina, announces an
initiative to provide easy migration of applications built around
MySQL AB 's MySQL database server for developers who work with REAL
Software's REALbasic cross-platform development environment.
With the release of REALbasic 2007 R4, REALbasic no longer includes a
MySQL driver with its products on Linux, Windows and MacOS X. The
developer now directs users to utilize a third party, commercial ODBC
driver for working with MySQL servers. The previously supported driver
was turned over to a third party developer.
Valentina already offers significant ease of use in porting from MySQL
to Valentina. Porting PHP based web applications can be as simple as a
search and replace on a string prefix. REALbasic developers utilizing
the built in RBDB API and SQL will find these methods substantially
reduce conversion to Valentina as Valentina natively supports these
methods. Valentina Studio, the cross-platform database administration
tool makes direct conversion a snap.
During the month of September 2007, REALbasic users can save up to
$200 on the tools they need to covert their MySQL based solutions to
Valentina. Single connection Valentina for REALbasic Professional ADK
and higher can be ordered for $100 below list price. Valentina
Developer Network, which allows unlimited, royalty free deployment of
a true, network ready database server Valentina Embedded Server, is
available at $200 less than list price.
Valentina for REALbasic is one of the first commercial plugins
released with support for REALbasic, and includes over 50 code
examples, online documentation and an open source bindings framework
developed especially for REALbasic developers. Valentina for REALbasic
solutions are available on Windows, MacOS X and Linux. Individual
operating system solutions are available at $199, directly from
Paradigma Software. Valentina Community Server is available for free.
