Just to let you know I have just put up a public preview of a new
drawing program for OS X. It is pretty basic at the moment, but if you
are interested you are welcome to download it and give it a whirl. Semi
regular updates will follow.
AlphaDraw can be download at:

The application can only create rectangles and polygons however these
can now be grouped and resized correctly. The shapes can also be
rotated, locked, cut, copied, pasted and duplicated with unlimited
undo/redo. Layers, scaling and multiple documents are also sup****ted. It
has nice rulers too!
Even though this is an alpha version most of what has been implemented
works correctly and the application is decidedly uncrashy. I am using
Thomas Cunninghams excellent CoreGraphics classes and modules to do the
actual drawing. His classes do nice quality Quartz drawing with alpha
transparency and anti aliasing for little effort.
