Choice #3: stop worrying and think of them as normal people who felt
their company was under attack. They raised the ****elds and went into
defense mode. Many would do the same. The next step would be to get
together and resolve whatever issues there are. It should be obvious
by now that PowerBASIC is not going to do that in public. If you want
reassurance you could try to ask them privately, but then you'd have
the dilemma of giving up your anonymity (I hope my spelling isn't
deteriorating because I'm having the flu right now).

What I meant was, all I have is what every other visitor to this
newsgroup has, a bunch of messages but not being there when it
actually happened. Plus we don't have the complete PowerBASIC
information on this matter, because they've clearly chosen not to
discuss this in public. So I have to guess (as you do) that their side
of the issue is not completely posted here. That's what I meant with
"I haven't seen all the material".

I've already shown several times that I feel differently about "have
been promising for ten years". In public interactions with clients on
the boards or newsgroups, I have never seen a Real Soon Now promise
been made.

That's not ignorant, it's a different point of view.

No I'll explain. With miscommunication I meant my own failure to make
my point of view clear enough to get this issue moving towards
resolvement. There's no point in repeating myself again.

He most likely has a different view on this, so I guess none of what
you hope for is going to happen any time soon. The only way to get out
of this, in my opinion, is to open a private, civilized conversation
with the people at PowerBASIC. Maybe it still can't be resolved that
way, but at least it's the most sensible thing to do right now. More
negativity here will only make it less likely that things will turn
out right after the dust settles.
