You mean the "Path:" line?  I think that that also is a holdover from
the old system, pre-modern internet.  When news was propagated from
modem to modem.

If MS has their way, you will need a 1024 processor cluster with a
terabyte of memory, and a multi terabyte disk drive system, just to
write a email.  :-)
