BCET is intended to compile PDS (et al) programs as is.  Therefore is
has the same stupid defaults as PDS.  It is not much of a problem for
me as I have LONG started EVERY program with a "DEFINT A-Z" statement.
Or, "DEFLNG A-Z" in some cases or those intended for BCET use only.
