-> And having "legal paperwork" for the US residency of Mohamed X does
-> not guarantee that the holder of such paperwork is in fact Mohamed X,
-> does it!
-> They appeared to be legal residents, but most likely they were not
-> actually who they appeared to be, AND WE'LL NEVER KNOW IF THEY WERE!
What does "legal residency" mean? It just means that all the paperwork,
both in the possession of the person concerned and also in official
files, etc., exists. The 9/11 hijackers died on that day. Maybe their
own papers were destroyed too. But the official records survived, and
show that those men were, in fact, legal U.S. residents.
Try for a moment using some sense. Put yourself in Bin Laden's shoes.
You want to cause chaos in the U.S.. So, do you look for some wild man
in the middle of Afghanistan, give him a pile of dynamite, and tell him
to take it to the States and blow something up, or do you make contact
with someone who is already living in the U.S. and who sympathizes with
you (there are many thousands of such people), and tell him to take
flying lessons, then hijack a plane and ram it into the provocatively
named "World" Trade Center? Bin Laden may be misguided, but he isn't
stupid. Of course he made the second choice. And no amount of
"security" at the border would have made the slightest difference.
