This is pretty common these days, and getting more so. The Macs come
with dual-boot software, and WinXP boots right up and runs normally.
There is also a program called Parallels that (I think) lets both OSs
reside for quick switching. (Regardless, you do have to purchase your
own copy of Windows.)
My Daqarta app runs only on Windows, and I was a bit nervous when a
client from a Mac-only university lab insisted that it had to run on
Macs. But it installed easily and runs fine on two Mac Minis running
different experiments. Both systems are set to boot directly to XP,
and the only clue that there is a Mac under the hood it is the funny
keyboard and mouse.
