I'm not sure that the original assertion is correct

and I'm not sure that the article you quoted relates to Morten's assertion

the piece about PriceWaterhouseCooperAndTheRestOfTheWorld re****ted what 
some people perceive about the relative im****tance of Data Warehouses 
and SOA  --  but both of these are delivery methods, and part of the IT 
infrastructure

I thought Morten was talking about software that sup****ts actual 
business activities

mind you, I'm not sure I understand Morten's original assertion, because 
my experience has been that analytical software was at least as 
im****tant as administrative software: Materials Requirements Planning, 
project control, dedicated mainframes running the company's linear 
programs -- all commanding resources in excess of those needed to run 
the company payroll
